The council offers its employees a range of in-house learning and development courses as well as specific job-related training. Courses include:

  • Assertiveness skills
  • Creative thinking and problem solving
  • Influencing and negotiation skills
  • Listening and questioning skills
  • Managing conflict
  • Motivating other for improved performance
  • Running effective meetings

Throughout your working life at the council, you will be provided with the opportunity to regularly discuss your work, needs and aspirations with your line manager.

In addition to this, the annual Performance and Development Review (the PDR) gives employees the opportunity to discuss work objectives and personal development in further detail and enables any learning and development needs to be identified and planned for.
