Bulky item collection
Before you ask us to collect any unwanted items consider the following options:
-
If the item is in a good reusable condition, the Furniture Revival will collect furniture and electrical items free of charge. They will also collect fridge freezers at a cost of £16. To arrange a collection call 01685 846830.
-
You can take unwanted items to your nearest household waste recycling centre. This is for household waste only. If you need to use a van or trailer you will need a permit. Visit the van and trailers section for details.
-
Many companies will often take your old items away when they deliver the new one. This is often free or sometimes for a small charge and should be arranged with your supplier.

Arranging a collection
To protect the front-line waste collection service and to adhere to current Government guidance on social distancing, we have introduced the following safety measures:
-
If a member of the household has displayed, or is currently displaying symptoms of coronavirus, please do not book a collection
-
If a member of the household has been symptomatic but has completed the 14-day isolation period, please ensure requested items are thoroughly cleansed prior to collection.
-
The service will be restricted to household furniture and white goods only. If you can store the items until social distancing measures are eased, please do so.
-
Social distancing (at least 2 metres) between residents and operatives must be maintained during the collection. If this cannot be achieved, the collection will not be carried out
-
Items must be placed at the kerbside the night before or morning of their scheduled collection. For safety reasons, we cannot offer any assistance with this. If you are having difficulty getting your item/s to the kerbside, you will need to keep hold of the item/s until normal service has been resumed.
-
Those using the service will be contacted by phone the day before collections to check that the household is still free of symptoms.
To arrange a collection please call Waste Strategy and Operations.
Please note: We no longer collect fridge freezers. To arrange a collection contact the
Furniture Revival on 01685 846830 who will collect at a charge of £16.
Payment can be made over the phone by debit or credit card or by cash at any of our cash offices.
Collection will normally be within 10 working days of receiving payment and you will be advised of a collection date and time.
Please note the following
- One item equates to a table, a chair, a cupboard etc.
- We will not enter your premises; items must be left outside the property. When requesting the collection, you will be advised of the most suitable place to leave the item(s) depending on your property type.
- We will only collect items that were recorded when the request was made. Additional items will be left at the property.
- If items are wet and become too heavy (for example, wet carpet and underlay) they may not be collected to ensure the health and safety of staff.
- If your item(s) are not collected for any reason (such as inclement weather, vehicle breakdown etc.) we will attempt to contact you. Every effort will be made to collect the next working day.
- Refunds for cancellations can only be processed if received more than two working days prior to the scheduled collection.
- No discounts are available.
- We will only collect items that you have paid for. You can add additional items but you will need to tell us at least 2 working days before collection.
